Job Description

The IT Computer Technician will focus on configuring and deploying computer systems for dental offices, including onboarding new devices through Windows Autopilot, installing and setting up various software applications, ensuring smooth hardware and software installations on-site, and managing user accounts across on-prem Active Directory and Microsoft 365 environments. This position reports to the IT Manager.

Responsibilities

Objectives and Responsibilities

 

Device Configuration and Onboarding:

· Configure new computers using Windows Autopilot.

· Ensure devices meet Lightwave and dental office specifications before deployment.

· Proper categorization of hardware in Microsoft Intune.

· Troubleshoot onboarding issues to maintain efficient system rollout.

 

Active Directory and Microsoft 365 User Management:

· Manage on-premises Active Directory user accounts, including creation, access changes, and account deactivation.

· Administer Microsoft 365 user accounts and licensing, ensuring proper provisioning and permissions.

· Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve user access issues across AD and M365 platforms.

 

Hardware Installation:

· Work with Lightwave IT Field Technicians to physically set up computer systems and peripherals at dental office locations.

· Connect and test hardware for proper functionality, including specialized dental devices such as USB x-ray sensors and appropriate drivers.

 

Software Installation:

· Install and configure dental office-specific software applications using provided instructions. · Test installed software to confirm proper integration with hardware and network systems.

· Document and resolve any software-related issues encountered during setup.

 

On-Site Support and Training:

· Work with Lightwave IT Field Technicians to physically install PC hardware onsite at dental offices and address any immediate end-user concerns.

· Alongside Lightwave IT Field Technicians, work with office staff to test on-premise dental applications and peripherals to verify functionality on new computer systems.

 

Asset Tracking and Documentation:

· Maintain accurate records of installed devices, software configurations, and decommissioned hardware using Freshservice asset tracking.

· Work with e-waste/recycling centers to dispose of retired PC hardware, collect certificates of destruction and document in Freshservice asset tracking.

· Report installation progress and any challenges encountered to the IT Manager.

 

Collaboration and Communication:

· Coordinate with internal IT teams and dental office staff to ensure installations are completed on time.

· Provide feedback on installation processes to improve efficiency and quality.

Technical Expertise

· Proficiency in Windows operating systems and experience with Windows Autopilot.

· Basic knowledge of on-prem Active Directory, including user account creation and management.

· Familiarity with Microsoft 365 administration, including user account provisioning and licensing.

· Basic knowledge of Microsoft Intune.

· Knowledge of network configurations, device drivers, and peripheral installations.

· Experience with hands-on computer hardware setups and troubleshooting techniques.

 

Education and Experience

· CompTIA A+ certification preferred.

· At least 1 year in an IT support position with on-site support experience preferred.

· Exposure to Active Directory, M365 environments and Intune is required.

· Healthcare IT or dental IT experience is a plus.

 

Soft Skills

· Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills for end-user interaction and training.

· Ability to follow detailed direction sheets and adapt to unique installation challenges.

· Team player with regular communication to IT Manager and IT team, availability to join weekly meetings to track hardware replacement progress.
